Anaglypta and Lincrusta wallcoverings

Anaglypta and Lincrusta wallcoverings have been
beautifying homes since the late 1800's.
Anaglypta and Lincrusta embossed, paintable wallpaper and paintable wallcovering.
Lincrusta, created in 1877, is an exquisite, deeply textured paintable wallcovering made from materials similar to linoleum. It was originally created by Frederick Walton as an inexpensive way to emulate the more expensive pressed plaster designs - very popular during the late Victorian era.

Lincrusta is made from a pulp of linseed oil mixed with sawdust, plant resin, chalk, zinc oxide and a colored dye. The pulp is applied to a paper base and then run between two rollers. One of the rollers engraves the pattern creating the design relief. The authentic designs, some of which have been around for over 100 years, replicate the classic beauty of elaborate, embossed plaster work. Unlike the fragile quality of plaster, Lincrusta offers a tough, ornate, durable surface which actually hardens with time. You will find spectacular uses for Lincrusta as dado's (the lower part of a wall decorated separately), frieze's (a horizontal border with designs or carvings around a room or along a wall), borders, and wallcoverings.

Anaglypta, a white, embossed paintable wallcovering made originally of a cotten and paper pulp, was created by Thomas Palmer and introduced 10 years later. It is extremely flexible, and comes in a great variety of styles, and designs including borders, friezes, wallcoverings, and dado panels. Many original installations of Lincrusta and Anaglypta can still be seen today, over 100 years later.
Anaglypta and Lincrusta are paintable wallcoverings. There's no limit to the looks you can achieve using your own creative color schemes and paint techniques.
In addition to adding beauty and elegance, Anaglypta and Lincrusta provide the perfect solition for cracked walls or damaged plaster.
Anaglypta and Lincrusta are historic, turn-of-the-century wallcovering materials and are well suited for authentic restoration projects.
